Overview

Heritance Tea Factory is a stylish hotel housed, as the name suggests, in a former tea factory situated 2km above sea level in the midst of a mountain range renowned across the globe for the quality of its tea leaves. The building is overlooked by mist-shrouded, densely forested hills and verdant plantations where you can harvest your very own tea to take home as a souvenir; in fact, from the moment you step through the doors and are greeted with a cup of spice tea, the tone is set for a very unique honeymoon in this remarkable heritage hotel.

Converted to its current occupation in 1996, the hotel still retains the original engine tucked away in the basement, as well as the Birmingham-manufactured scales used to weigh the tea. Everywhere you look the factory’s history shines through, offering an intriguing window into the past.

Room Types

Heritance Tea Factory offers a selection of 5 different categories of rooms and suites. There are 54 rooms in total, occupying what were once the factory’s “withering rooms”; these days they are a lot more luxurious and include full-length windows, attractive wood furnishings and elegant, locally produced fabrics.

Executive Floor Deluxe Room

Honeymoon couples are sure to enjoy the luxuries afforded you by the Executive Floor Deluxe room, which offers sweeping views over the surrounding countryside and includes a king-size bed, fully stocked mini-bar and your very own personal butler service. Fresh strawberries and cream, canapés and crushed ice are also provided.
Flowerdew Suite

Alternatively you could opt for the more grandiose Flowerdew Suite, named after the estate’s 19th century founder. Situated at the hotel’s highest point, the views from this suite are unparalleled, as is the room’s aura of colonial elegance. Residents of this suite can benefit from a spacious lounge area, a 48” flat-screen TV and Jacuzzi in the bathroom.
Superior Room

Spend your honeymoon tucked away in your private haven, these well appointed 204 square feet Superior rooms offer a spacious and rustic ambience to enjoy a private and secluded honeymoon experience. Enjoy in-room facilities from a king size bed, fully stocked mini bar, free Wi-Fi, bathtub and shower, 24-hour room service, satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
Premium Rooms

Wake up each morning to the beautiful Sri Lankan views from the wide windows in the luxurious bedroom. Located on the first, second and third floor, the 344 square feet Premium Rooms offer a range of amenities to make your honeymoon in Sri Lanka special and memorable. As well as offering superb views of the tea-covered hills and valleys, enjoy some time out with your newlywed with satellite TV and DVd player as well as bathrobes and slippers for extra comfort. Enjoy in-room facilities such as extra pillow and blankets, laundry service at a charge, tea and coffee making facilities, room heater and free Wi-Fi.
Junior Suite

Dark wood detailing and Sri Lankan inspired heritage are splashed throughout the 398 square feet Junior Suite. Spend your honeymoon enjoying elegant interiors with every effort made to make your stay comfortable and inviting. The views from the bedroom and bathroom are simply breath taking, making you want to explore this stunning destination even more.
Semi Suite

The spacious 497 sq ft Semi Suite is cozy and furnished with elegant décor. Room amenities include 24-hur room service, bathtub with overhead shower, free Wi-Fi, safe, toiletries, laundry service, IDD telephones, mini bar, TV with cable channels and tea and coffee facilities.

Facilities

After a hard morning’s tea picking – or sightseeing – head to the hotel’s Misty Morning Spa, which boasts a menu of blissful massages, wraps, facials and other treatments guaranteed to refresh and restore you. As well as 3 treatment rooms the spa is also home to a Jacuzzi and steam room and has its own selection of herbal cosmetics and blended massage oils.
As well as the spa, the hotel includes among its facilities a gym, putting green and pool tables, not to mention a cosy library tucked away above the Hethersett Bar.
