OVERVIEW
Vancouver has to be one of the most romantic of city honeymoon destinations. Vancouver boasts some of the most luxurious hotels and accommodation, and it’s a city where there is plenty to see and do. It’s also a great starting point if you want to go on to explore other destinations in Canada because Vancouver is well connected to the rest of the country.
Vancouver is home to the U.S.A’s third-largest park – Stanley Park which is made up of a large number of walking trails across over 1000 acres of forests and even features its own aquarium and nature reserve. Also be sure to stop by the ever-famous Chinatown, which was granted a National Historic Site in 2011.
If you’re planning on a honeymoon in Vancouver, here are just a few things you won’t want to miss.
Beautiful sights to see in Vancouver
Stanley Park
No stay in Vancouver would be complete without a stroll around the beautiful Stanley Park. It’s North America’s third-largest park and covers around 1,000 acres, with an aquarium and nature centre within the grounds. You might not get around it all, but it’s a brilliant way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for an afternoon and take in some fresh air.
Vancouver lookout
One of the most iconic buildings on the Vancouver skyline, the Vancouver Lookout might not be one for those afraid of heights! If you do catch the elevator to the top of this 170-metre tower, you will be richly rewarded. The Vancouver Lookout offers panoramic views over the city, where you’ll be able to see some of the local landmarks and enjoy watching the sunset if you time it right.
Explore Gastown
Gastown is the oldest commercial district in Vancouver and a real jewel in the crown of the city. Here you can wander around streets of Victorian architecture and enjoy some of the best boutique shops in the city, as well as find some of the best cafes and restaurants for a leisurely lunch or dinner.
Vancouver is all-year round honeymoon destination with other activities including hiking and kayaking through the stunning forests and lakes, watching whales in their natural habitats to ski-ing or snowboarding in award winning resorts and chasing the Northern lights from British Colombia to the Yukon. Not only that you can head in to Downtown for the buzzing nightlife scene on Granville street or enjoy shopping in the luxury boutiques on Robson street.
One of the most romantic activities for couples in Vancouver is venturing up to the top of Grouse mountain. You’re sure to be taken aback by the jaw-dropping views from its peak. During the winter months, you can take to the slopes for a ski session, or during summer, you can climb to the peak by a gondola ride.
You simply can’t visit Vancouver without visiting the city’s most popular attraction by far – the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Interestingly isn’t just one bridge, but a series of mini bridges which will take you around an hour to explore at a leisurely pace. During the Christmas period, the bridge is decorated with twinkling lights that will make the whole experience even more magical and romantic.
This fantastic city, Vancouver, really is a dream destination for couples on their honeymoon, offering both the thrill of a city break and access to the wonderful Canadian wilds. Come rain or shine, this is a beautiful city and a great honeymoon destination.
