OVERVIEW
Looking for the perfect unique getaway for your upcoming honeymoon? Maui – otherwise known as ‘The Valley Isle’ should be top of the agenda if both you and your spouse are the exploring kind. It was voted the ‘Best Island in the U.S’ by Condé Nast Traveler readers for more than two decades. The second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is best known for its black sand beaches, volcanic panoramas, and lush green jungles.
When it comes to outdoor adventures, you’ll never be stuck for choice in Maui. Firstly, be sure to take a trip to the Haleakala National Park (named after its towering volcano at the centre). Here, you’ll discover numerous walking trails and exquisite views of the surrounding area. We’d highly recommend visiting at sunrise – between 3 am and 7 am. Despite the early get-up, you certainly won’t regret it.
As you’re in Hawaii, you simply cannot miss a trip to the coast; including Pa’iloa Black Sand Beach. Set in the Wai’anapanapa State Park, it’ll make the perfect photo opportunity with your new spouse as you stroll hand in hand and dip your toes in the warm ocean. Also, be sure to spend an afternoon checking out the amazing waterfalls that Maui has to offer (some of which are up to 40 feet high!) It’s not just about taking in the view from the bottom – if you’re feeling brave, why not make your way to the very top? On your journey by foot, you’ll travel through lush jungles and alongside streams which is sure to make the experience even more memorable.
A trip to Maui wouldn’t be complete without visiting Turtle Town – one of the island’s most popular snorkelling spots. Located along the south shore, you’ll be able to get up close to a whole host of marine life – including Hawaiian green sea turtles.
