Jagdish and Ravi’s Amazing Mauritius & Dubai Honeymoon
Our lovely clients, Jagdish and Ravi, got married recently and decided to celebrate the start of their married life in the dazzling city of Dubai and beautiful island of Mauritius. The honeymoon couple spent two fabulous weeks in our most popular multi-centre, we caught up with them to discuss their recent trip of a lifetime. Read on to find out all about their wonderful honeymoon experience in Dubai and Mauritius…..
Jumeriah Zabeel Saray
Once we arrived in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, we were amazed at how grand the hotel looked, very clean and smelt very nice. It was very beautiful and luxurious looking, we were simply in awe from the moment we arrived. The location was also great, it was on the Palm so that was a bonus as it’s the nice, modern part of Dubai.
On arrival, we checked in at reception and we were very surprised to be given a complimentary upgrade, which we were really happy about. Soon as we got into our room, we were amazed at how beautiful our room looked. It was very spacious and had stunning ocean views including a King Size bed and a bath which was enormous. Pretty petals were decorated on the bed on arrival with a bottle of champagne, which was a lovely gesture.
The food and service was great, we ate in the Indian restaurant in the luxurious Dubai hotel which was delicious, however, we would look forward to breakfast everyday as it was so fresh and had so many different options every morning.
As we were on honeymoon for four amazing days and nights, our day to day diary was basically just relaxing on the private beach topping up our tans to just exploring and travelling around, as we were told there was so much to see and do in the glamorous city of Dubai. We visited the Sikh Temple, the Dubai Mall where we saw the fountain show, the Cheesecake factory which is a must as the portion sizes are so big and to Gold Souk, which we would definitely recommend if you want gold as it is cheaper than in the UK – you just need to haggle a bit.
On our last day, we also went on a Desert Safari excursion organised through the hotel which was amazing, the perfect end to our trip. We definitely recommend the excursion as the safari jeep drive was a lot of fun, we had pictures with a falcon, dressed up as Arabs in the Dubai’s traditional dress code, ate some really great food and just thoroughly enjoyed the day.
St Regis Mauritius
After an amazing few days in Dubai, our next stop was Mauritius we stayed at the beachfront oasis, St Regis Mauritius for ten incredible days.
Soon as we arrived we were impressed by the ultra-luxurious resort, which is set on the beach right in front of the iconic Le Morne mountain. It looked so picture-perfect, even better than the pictures we had seen. The views from the reception, the bedrooms and as you’re walking around the hotel were breath taking. Also, the little buggies which take you to your room, it all added to the wonderful experience too.
We received a room upgrade again which was lovely, we had a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean Junior suite. We couldn’t believe the size of the room and the decor was beautiful with wooden beams. The spacious room had a separate lounge, dining area, a big bath with an even bigger walk in shower, two toilets and most of all the highlight of the room was the balcony which was the whole length of the suite offering stunning views.
The room was decorated with pretty petals and a bottle of champagne, which we thought was lovely of the resort. Every morning we woke up to the sun beaming through our balcony into our room and went to sleep seeing the sun set. It was just so perfect, truly an amazing surprise to come into on our honeymoon.
The resort was surely beautiful and the service was on point, nothing was too much trouble for all the staff in Mauritius – hospitable and welcoming, made you feel like a part of their family yet so professional at all times. Even all the restaurants we tried made amazing food, our favourite being the Thai restaurant, Floating market. The food here was incredible and the staff definitely went the extra mile. The second time we went, they made us a special menu and set up a lovely table with rose petals etc – it was so pretty. The Boathouse also did some great food – they make the most amazing pizza’s which was a special treat based on recommendation from staff.
We spent most of our days relaxing on the beach to exploring the beautiful sights of Mauritius, which was very nice from all the stress of the wedding. Within the resort, we enjoyed the calm and tranquil spa which was amazing and also took advantage of the complimentary water sports on-site. This is well recommended as the resort allows you to make full use of the pedal boats, canoes glass-bottom boat trips, kayaking, windsurfing etc without any charge.
Whilst we were there we went on two excursions, a city tour around Mauritius which we enjoyed as it included visiting the Hindu temple which had enormous idols made for each Hindu god. We also visited the Gin Brewery which was included in this tour, where you got to try five different flavours of gin. After we had lunch at Panoramic restaurant which had the most amazing views.
Our second excursion tour was the ‘one love’ tour. This was by far the best excursion we have ever been on. We were picked up from the hotel and then we travelled to various islands via speed boat. It was a bumpy ride but well worth it, the experience was amazing. The speed boat stopped short off the island encouraging everyone to walk to the shore (would recommend wearing swimwear to prevent clothes from getting wet). Once we got to the shore there was a raft set up for paragliding which we made use of (it came to 2200 rupees charge including making a film). It was such a surreal experience, we loved it.
We saw the waterfall with the cheeky monkeys and then had a barbecue on an island whilst one of the guys sang Bob Marley songs.
Literally had the most amazing time on this tour. If we had time we would have done it again.
Any tips and recommendations?
- If going on the one love excursion – make sure you have swimwear under your clothing so you can jump in the water etc or trousers and bottoms that will roll up as that will be required for when walking to shore.
- Try sitting right at the front if you want a full speedboat experience with all the bumps with the waves.
- Feed the monkeys when you stop at the waterfall – you are allowed to.
- Desert safari in Dubai – you stop at a shop en route to the dessert area – buy the scarfs which the shop staff will tie around your head for you – yes you look like a tourist in Dubai, however it does add to the experience and feel of the excursion.
How was the service that you received from your Travel Agent during your booking process?
Service was great – Leigh was our agent and nothing was too much trouble for him. He conducted many thorough searches based on what we wanted and didn’t fail to impress. The hotels/resorts we stayed at were just perfect.
