Overview

The 4* Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat is a stunning and exclusive resort situated on the untouched island with sandy beaches, lush vegetation and the turquoise waters of its own coral reef. There are just 30 charming villas; ten on the beach and 20 over water. Each one is luxurious and offers total seclusion and privacy and for those who enjoy water sports – some of the best diving spots in the world. Room Types

The 30 charming villas have been built in the traditional style with a high pitched roof that is thatched and natural wood walls, with large picture windows with stunning views either of the atoll or the beach. Inside there is a beamed vaulted ceiling and a beautiful king size bed with net drapes and there are pieces of hand crafted wooden furniture. The villas have air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout and there is a mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. The spacious bathrooms have bath tubs and twin basins and complimentary toiletries made from tea. There is a private outside deck with sun loungers. There is the option to split your trip between each villa type.

Beach Villa

There are ten beach villas, each nestling amongst the palm trees for privacy and each with direct access to the beautiful beach. Each villa has 39m² of floor area and is beautifully spacious with pale cream walls and light coloured floors. In the bathroom there is a walk in shower.
Water Villas

There are 20 water villas and these are built on stilts overlooking the South Ari Atoll. Each villa has its own pathway that joins the main path that leads to the beach. The villas have a floor area of 54m². There is a comfortable bed and a living area with wooden writing desk and chairs. The bath room has a large bath tub right in front of the window to ensure stunning ocean views whilst you bathe! There is also a shower. Outside the villa there is a private decked area with sun loungers and table and chairs– what better than a siesta listening to the rhythm of the waves?

Facilities

The location of Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat is all that is needed. The South Ari Atoll offers the most incredible snorkelling and diving with the opportunity to see manta rays, turtles and many different fish, plus baby whale sharks and coloured corals for which the atoll is famous.

There is the chance to enjoy windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing as well as boat trips and good sport fishing.

If you prefer simply to relax, there is every opportunity in this intimate and secluded resort. It's overwater spa has wonderful views over the lagoon that are conductive to relaxation and the Spa itself is a peaceful haven with a variety of different treatments available from Indonesia, Thailand and India.

Restaurants

There is a team of highly skilled chefs working at the restaurant which is located on the beach with open walls and a thatched roof. The chefs work with the finest local ingredients including sea food that is sourced locally and tempting dishes include grilled lobster and Maldivian fish curry.

For those who truly want to enjoy time on their own romantic dinners for two can be arranged both with a beach setting or in your own villa.

Main Restaurant

The resorts main restaurant offers guests a generous buffet selection or a la carte menu and organises some special meals too – for example, Saturday night is barbecue on the beach night!
Main bar

There is also a beach front bar which is ideal for cool drinks and light snacks and meals through the day and views of the magnificent sunsets enjoyed with cocktails in the evening.
