Overview

Lion Sands Game Reserve boasts a fascinating history and has been a part of the More family legacy for four generations. The Lion Sands, Sabi Sands reserve is the only one of its kind to include both Sand River and Sabie River ecosystems within its boundaries and is home to the Big 5, as well as a multitude of other animal and bird species. Offering an unforgettable year-round safari experience, the reserve also prides itself on the friendliness and hospitality of its staff.

Room Types

The Lion Sands, Sabi Sand Reserve boasts two luxurious lodges – the River Lodge and Ivory Lodge, as well as the family’s personal lodge, 1933, which can be specially rented out.

River Lodge

The River Lodge is located on the picturesque banks of the Sabie River and is comprised of 20 beautifully appointed bedrooms, each one complete with its own private viewing deck. You have a choice between Luxury and Superior Luxury suites (66sqm and 98sqm respectively) and the rooms include air conditioning, personal bars and mosquito nets. You also have access to Wi-Fi and satellite TV in public areas, and 2 central public pools.
Ivory Lodge

Ivory Lodge is even more opulent and provides iconic luxury accommodation set against the stunning backdrop of the South African bushveld. Each of the six 165sqm suites are decorated in a delightful palette of purples, pinks and blues and include a spacious master bedroom and lounge as well as a private rim flow pool where you can enjoy soothing dips in the heat of the day. These suites also feature both indoor and outdoor showers and a fireplace.
Tinga Lodge

Each of the 9 opulent suites are placed in an ideally intimate setting, featuring an indoor and outdoor shower, separate lounge area, mini bar, private plunge pool and deck area.
Narnia Lodge

Perched among the canopy of ancient trees overlooking the Sabie River, the Narnia Lodge compromises of 9 intimate suites. Spend your time relaxing on your private deck area with plunge pool, or head for the indoor sitting area for a lazy afternoon read.

Facilities

Lion Sands offers twice daily safari drives, enabling you to get up close and personal to a wide variety of wildlife, ranging from lions and elephant, to baboons, buffalo, impala and both black and white rhino.

You can also enjoy a romantic Treehouse experience, by booking a night in Chalkley Treehouse, set among the branches of an ancient Leadwood Tree. Here you can enjoy drinks and a picnic dinner and relish the experience of sleeping under the stars while listening to the sounds of the African night.

There is also an Africology Spa in the Reserve, offering a luxurious selection of massages and other treatments guaranteed to refresh you and recharge your batteries. Bespoke body treatments and facials are available, as are oil massages and even an African Potato Conditioning Manicure.

A variety of gym equipment is also available for use, in case you feel the need to work out during your stay.
