Facilities
It is just a few steps to the beach with its welcoming hammocks strung between palm trees and the small jetty there is used by dive boats and fishing boats. There is a PADI 5 Star scuba centre based on the Oualie beach and the Booby High Shoals is the island’s great dive spot where you can see marine turtles and sting rays. If you are a strong swimmer the big challenge is to swim the four kilometres (2.5 miles) across the ‘Narrows’ to St Kitts – most people take the short boat trip. Other water sports activities include deep sea fishing, ocean kayaking, and excursions by yacht and catamaran.
There are wellness spa treatments available at Oualie Beach Resort including the romantic couple’s massage and yoga classes.
There is horse riding too, either in the mountains or along the sandy beaches. The island’s countryside is beautiful with birds and butterflies galore.
Restaurants
-
Oualie Beach Restaurant
Oualie Beach Restaurant is right on the beach and some diners can have a chance to dip their toes in the sand. The restaurant serves meals throughout the day including popular Caribbean dishes and international cuisine. There are plenty of seafood choices and fresh fish such as Tuna, Wahoo and Mahi Mahi – brought straight from the fishing boats. The motto of the Chefs at Oulie Beach Restaurant is ‘from farm to plate’ and they work with several local farmers to ensure there is plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables on the menu too. On Tuesday nights there is live music and fun jam sessions with dancing on the sand under the stars.
